History[]
Built by Lockheed/Vega as a B-17G-110-VE Flying Fortress,[1] with c/n 8746,[2] the aircraft was modified, and transferred, as PB-1G Bu No. 82855,[N 1] to the US Coast Guard[1] on 14 August 1946. Returned to the US Navy on 1 April 1947 for scrapping,[4] the aircraft was destined to remain intact until at least 1952.
