Built in 1941[3] as a DC-3-314B.[N 2] In 1941 the aircraftb aken on Strength/Charge with the United States Army Air Force as C-50B-DO 41-7704.
The aircraft later passed to unknown owner(s) as NC21788, and then N271L, before joining Hi Flyers Inc, New Orleans, LA as N340EL. On 9 October 2009, civil registration N340EL was cancelled, as the aircraft had been lost in a fire.[4]
