Built by Airspeed at Portsmouth[2] as a Merlin 113/114 powered B.35, under contract 3527, VR803 was delivered between 10 July 1947 and 13 February 1948.[3]

At some point VR803 became one of the ten B.35 airframes modified as PR.35 reconnaissance aircraft.[4]

The aircraft was struck off charge on 14 January 1957.[5]
